Apple iPhone 5 May Run On China Mobile TD-SCDMA Network

The chairman of China Mobile, the world's biggest mobile phone operator by subscribers, has confirmed that Apple will support TD-LTE, which means that a TD-SCDMA iPhone 5 may be in the pipeline.

According to a report published by Recuters, China Mobile has been discussing with China Mobile pretty much since the phone has been launched and always wanted to get a model that uses the proprietary TD-SCDMA 3G technology.

Now that Apple launched its first CDMA mode for Verizon Wireless a few week ago, chances that a third version will emerge are higher than ever before. Wang said at a conference in Davos that "These two years we have been discussing the issue. Right now the situation is moving forward. Apple has made it clear they will support TD-LTE."

The iPhone is available in China through China Unicom, the second biggest mobile operator in the country. However, China Mobile has more than three times the number of mobile phone customers than China Unicom and the fact that Apple sold out its complete iPhon e4 stock on the first day means that there's a huge demand for Apple product.

In addition, the four Apple stores in China were the highest-trafficked, and highest earners in the world with revenue for China - as revealed in the world with revenue for China - as revealed in the last Q1 press conference - increased four fold compared to the previous quarter.
